Dr. Mike Walker began his service on the City Council in 2014, having previously served on the Planning and Zoning Commission. From 2004 until 2013, Dr. Walker was on the Board of Trustees of the Kennedale Independent School District, serving as President from 2005 until 2013. During his tenure, KISD expanded facilities, increased teacher pay, and saw a rise in academic performance. Dr. Walker is also a charter member of the Kennedale Rotary Club and was President of the Kennedale Athletic Booster Club from 2003 until 2006.
Dr. Walker is a licensed psychologist and administrative director at North Texas Pain Recovery Center, a medical rehabilitation clinic located in Southwest Arlington. He holds five graduate degrees in the fields of psychology, counseling, law, and business. Dr. Walker also serves on the Board of Trustees at Oklahoma Christian University and is President of its National Alumni Council.
Dr. Walker and his family moved to Kennedale in 1985. He and his wife, Barbara, have two adult children and two grandchildren. His daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren live in Kennedale. Dr. Walker and his wife attend the Pleasant Ridge Church of Christ, where he serves as an Elder.
