Kennedale Mayor Brian Johnson has been named Chairperson of the Tarrant Regional Transportation Coalition (TRTC). His two-year term begins October 1, 2017, and extends through September of 2019. He replaces Jungus Jordan of the City of Fort Worth. Johnson has served as the Southeast Region representative to the TRTC Executive Committee since 2010.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to serve Tarrant County and the City of Kennedale and look forward to working with the TRTC to improve regional mobility in support of a growing population and economic development,” said Johnson.

TRTC is a non-profit organization composed of local leaders who hold monthly informational meetings and engage in legislative advocacy and public education efforts to address the transportation and mobility of the western half of the Metroplex. The organization welcomes community input. Additional information, including upcoming meetings, is available at

“Mayor Johnson has been a valuable member of the TRTC’s Executive Committee and has an outstanding history of innovative leadership focused on smart growth and economic development,” said Southwest Region representative Mayor Ken Shetter of Burleson. “He is going to be a great leader for the TRTC and an advocate for the region.”

TRTC’s goal is to spur conversation amongst friends, neighbors, business colleagues, local leaders, and state officials about our region’s urgent mobility needs – roadways, commuter rail, and freight rail.

“Mayor Johnson understands the significance of transportation in a growing county. I look forward to working with him and the TRTC Board to advocate for effective solutions in North Texas,” said Tarrant County Precinct 2 Commissioner Andy Nguyen.

Mayor Johnson also serves as Treasurer of the Southeast Tarrant Transportation Partnership and Secretary of the Tarrant County Mayors’ Council.
