The City of Kennedale, Keep Kennedale Beautiful (KKB), and the Arts & Culture Foundation proudly present the 7th Annual Brickworks Festival, a free three-day event celebrating our community’s past, present, and future.
Previously known as Art in the Park, the event was renamed in 2015 to honor of one of our city’s founding companies – The Kennedale Brick Works (also known as “Mrs. Sargent’s brickyard”). Many of the city’s earliest residents worked at this facility, which was located in what is now Sonora Park from the 1880s through the beginning of the 1900s. Brick Works bricks can still be found in the older buildings of downtown Fort Worth.
This family-friendly festival strengthens our community by bringing everyone together in TownCenter for music, art, food, and fun. Friday night the Alumni Association presents a tribute to KHS alumni and performances by the Kennedale Bricklayers and Lannie Flowers. Saturday morning the Historical Society presents their first annual Historical Walk, followed by a parade on Kennedale Parkway.
Throughout the festival, you can enjoy performance groups from KISD schools and Fellowship Academy, shop with local artists and vendors, let the kids burn some energy in the Kidzone, grab a bite to eat in the food court, and cheer on your fellow residents and community leaders as they ride the mechanical bull, strut their stuff in the pet parade, or make a fool of themselves in the pie eating contest.
The overarching goal of this festival is to support the current and future artists in our community by showcasing artist booths in the park, displaying a collection of student art in City Hall, and awarding scholarships to selected graduating seniors who plan to pursue a fine arts degree. Please join us at the Brickworks Silent Auction fundraising event Thursday, March 3rd, from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. in the Kennedale Junior High School cafeteria.
KACF strives to positively impact the Kennedale community through volunteerism and the promotion of arts and culture awareness and inclusion.
