The Cities of Kennedale and Arlington have entered into an agreement under which the City of Arlington now operates and maintains the City of Kennedale water and wastewater utility systems.
Your City staff is dedicated to making this a smooth transition for all Kennedale residents and businesses. To that end, you may not notice any immediate changes in your service. However, over time, we hope you will see efficiencies and service level improvements. Additionally, we have contracted with Arlington as an additional source for water. Following are some quick answers to common questions:
How can I pay my bill?
SAME: You can pay your bill at Kennedale City Hall (via the Utility Billing window during normal business hours or at the kiosk in the foyer 24 hours a day); by calling 817-985-2120 or 1-855-203-1318 (toll-free); or by visiting our Online Fathom Portal. If you are currently signed up for auto-pay, this will continue to function as usual.
Currently, Arlington Action Center representatives will not have access to individual customer records. All billing or account inquiries will be handled by Global Water Fathom.
SOON: Kennedale Water Utility customers will soon be able to pay their bill at City of Arlington Water Utilities locations. This page will be updated when this service becomes available.
Are we going to have Arlington drinking water now?
SAME: The water supply will not change immediately. However, as part of this collaboration, the City of Kennedale has also entered into an agreement to purchase drinking water from the City of Arlington.
NEW: A connection between the two systems must be established first, which is expected to take place within the next few months. You may notice construction beginning soon on Little Road near the entrance sign just north of Pennsylvania Avenue. A gradual transition to the maximum purchase of Arlington water will occur over the next 12 months.
What about trash and recycling?
SAME: The current curbside trash and recycling service, provided by Waste Connections (formerly Progressive), will not change.
Is the cost changing?
SAME: The current utility rate schedule will not change at this time. Visit our Water Rates page for more information.
Will my bill look different?
SAME: Customers will still receive bills from Global Water Fathom.
NEW: The possible termination of the Fathom contract is currently being negotiated. Once that contract ends, billing will be through the City of Arlington.
What if I need to call for service or to report a line break or outage?
NEW: This service will now be provided by the City of Arlington, so contact information has changed. Customers can report service issues in any of the following ways:

Brief Background of this Regional Collaboration
These two contracts, in development since November 2017, were recommended for City Council approval by the Utility and Infrastructure Board (UIB) as well as by staff. The first is for the purchase of water (PDF) from the City of Arlington. The second provides for the City of Arlington to assume the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) (PDF) of the Kennedale water and wastewater utility systems. Both the Kennedale and Arlington City Councils approved the agreements on Tuesday, March 19, 2019, and they became effective on Friday, March 29, 2019.
