THE CITY OF KENNEDALE IS SEEKING PROPOSALS FROM QUALIFIED LICENSED ATTORNEYS TO SERVE AS JUDGE FOR THE CITY OF KENNEDALE MUNICIPAL COURT. PLEASE SEE THE FOLLOWING ANNOUNCEMENT FOR INFORMATION REGARDING SUBMISSION OF QUALIFICATIONS AND PROPOSALS FOR PROVIDING SUCH INDEPENDENT CONTRACTOR SERVICES.
THE ROLE: Municipal Court Judge (Contract) will preside over the City of Kennedale’s municipal court as an independent contractor. The Municipal Judge will attend all regularly scheduled court sessions, as scheduled by the Municipal Judge in consultation with City Staff and conduct other hearings and trials at the Kennedale Municipal Court, as necessary and as scheduled by the Municipal Judge in consultation with City Staff. The Judge will be required to select two alternate judges, to be approved and appointed by the City Council, to serve in his or her absence. Scheduling and compensation of alternate judges will be the responsibility of the Judge.
THE CITY: Kennedale is a small community (population 8,000) in the Dallas/Fort Worth metropolitan region. JOB REQUIREMENTS: The Municipal Court of record shall be presided over by a Municipal Judge who shall serve for a two (2) year term concurrent with that of the Mayor. The Municipal Judge must be a licensed attorney in good standing in the State of Texas and must have two (2) or more years of experience in the practice of law in Texas. The judge must be a citizen of the United States and of the State of Texas. In Fiscal Year 2018, the number of cases handled by either the Municipal Court Judge or the prosecutor was approximately nine hundred (900).
FEES: (Independent Contractor) Fees will be negotiated with the selected candidate. A contract approved by the City Council will be required. The current annual budget for fees paid to the Municipal Court Judge is approximately $15,000.00.
