Building Inspections
Purpose
The purpose of the Building Inspections Division is to ensure that all structures within the City of Kennedale conform to adopted and accepted building codes and standards. This is accomplished through the issuances of building permits, certificates of occupancy, comprehensive review, and inspections of all residential and commercial projects.
Permits
Permits are required for new construction, as well as work that changes, moves or repairs walls, floors, ceiling, windows, doors, electrical, mechanical or plumbing. All permit applications must be emailed to permits@cityofkenendale.com.
Permits are not required for "cosmetic" remodels (floor or wall covering, cabinets, counter tops, shelving, etc.) or plumbing fixture replacement.
Permits that required plan review typically take about 5 to 10 business days, depending on the scope of the project.
Contractor Registration
All contractors, including sub-contractors, must be registered with the city in order to obtain a permit. Contractor registration applications, including license and insurance information, must be emailed to permits@cityofkennedale.com.
Inspections
All inspections requests should be made by emailing inspections@cityofkennedale.com. Inspection requests received before noon will be scheduled for the next business day.
