05/05 - Burglary of a Building - 200 block of Valley Lane: At 1:20 p.m. an officer was dispatched to a burglary call. Person(s) unknown had entered a business and removed several items including a flatbed Ford truck, a Bobcat loader, and a welding rig. The total value of all items stolen was placed at $11,800.
05/05 - Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child - 100 block of Briarwood: At 3:00 p.m. officers were advised of a possible sexual assault of a child. The call was made from Cook Children's Hospital, where doctors were examining the child. It was reported that a grandparent had assaulted the child with an object while the child was being watched by the grandparents. Child Protective Services is also involved in the investigation.
05/06 - Burglary - 700 block of Kennedale Parkway: At 4:12 a.m. officers were dispatched to a burglary in progress. The store owner was able to see a suspect through a remote security system. The suspect entered the location and removed an unknown number of cartons of cigarettes. Nothing else was taken.
05/07 - Resisting Arrest - 500 block of 4th Street: At 7:59 p.m. officers were attempting to arrest a suspect for a domestic violence warrant issued out of Kennedale. The suspect resisted officers and attempted to flee by entering a home. The officers entered the home and affected the arrest. The suspect was later released pending further investigation due to an internal police department audit of issues raised with the arrest procedure. The warrant has been re-issued and the suspect has been notified.
05/08 - Theft $50 to $500 - 4000 block of Kennedale New Hope Road: At 8:16 a.m. an officer responded to a theft complaint. The complainant stated that on the previous day three male suspects had arrived at his home claiming to have previously worked for him and his wife. The suspects knew both victims by name and were familiar with the victims' home. While sitting in the home for a visit, two of the three suspects (at different times) excused themselves to go to the bathroom. When the suspects left, the victims discovered several items of jewelry and money as well two check books missing from the home.
05/08 - Possession of Controlled Substance - 600 block of Little School Road: At 4:53 p.m. officers were dispatched to a suspicious vehicle. A 42 year old male and a 38 year old female were with the vehicle and were mowing the yard of a nearby residence. During the investigation both suspects were found to have outstanding warrants from several agencies. Officers also discovered a large amount of methamphetamine in the vehicle. The female stated to officers that it belonged to her and not the male suspect. Both persons were transported to the municipal jail for booking.
05/08 - Theft $500 to $1,500 - 1200 block of Little School Road: At 5:59 p.m. dispatch received a call of a silent panic alarm at the T Mobile store on Little School Road. The location has been the scene of several phone thefts over the years. All Kennedale units were occupied on a narcotics arrest at the time and Forest Hill police units responded to secure the scene. Upon arrival, Kennedale officers discovered that three suspects had entered the store and grabbed two display phones, cutting the security cords to remove them. The suspects then ran to a vehicle at the Valero store next door and drove into some apartments across Treepoint Drive. A search of the apartment complex did not turn up the vehicle.
05/09 - Assault Bodily Injury (Family Member) - 100 block of Oakwood Lane: At 11:29 a.m. officers responded to a domestic assault with a firearm involved. The report was that a male had assaulted a female victim, who now had a handgun. On arrival, the female victim was present and visibly upset. The male suspect had departed the scene. The victim stated that she and her husband had recently separated due to domestic violence but that he had moved back in as an attempt at reconciliation. On the evening before the incident, the victim and suspect got into an argument that carried over into the next morning. The victim told the suspect that he needed to move out. The suspect became angry but left when the victim began calling 911. The victim terminated the 911 call at that time. The suspect returned a short time later and assaulted the victim. The victim ran to a neighbor's residence and asked the neighbor to call 911. The neighbor actually had an Airsoft handgun as protection. The suspect left in the victim's car before officers arrived. The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment. A warrant will be issued for the suspect.
05/10 - Theft $1,500 to $20,000 - 800 block of Sublett Road: At 8:40 a.m. an officer took a theft report form a construction company. Unknown person(s) entered the company's storage yard and removed a number of items related to the business. The items were valued at over $5,600. The theft occurred during the overnight hours.
05/10 - Theft $500 to $1,500 - 500 block of 4th Street: At 3:05 p.m. an officer took a report of a stolen vehicle. The vehicle, which had broken down, was left at a residence on 4th Street by the victim's granddaughter. When the victim went to check on the vehicle it had been removed by unknown person(s). The vehicle was valued at $1,000. It was entered into the state and national databases as stolen.
05/11 - DUI (Minor) - 6300 block of Treepoint Drive: At 2:38 a.m. an officer observed a traffic violation. Upon stopping the vehicle, the 19 year old driver had been drinking and smelled of an alcoholic beverage. After a sobriety assessment, the driver was cited for DUI (Minor) and released to his brother's custody.
05/11 - Assault Bodily Injury - 6700 block of Hudson Village Creek Road: At 10:50 p.m. officers were working off-duty at Kennedale Speedway Park when they were notified of an assault in the pit area. On arrival the officers encountered a 47 year old male who stated that he had been assaulted by another male. The victim exhibited injury evidence of an assault. The suspect was a 50 year old male known to the victim. The victim and suspect, both racers, had gotten into a disagreement over a wreck during their race. The suspect reportedly struck the victim and knocked him to the ground. Evidence revealed that the assault was in reaction to the victim poking the suspect's son in the chest during the argument and calling him a name. The victim was charged with causing the assault by provocative contact, as the suspect's son wanted charges filed. The suspect was charged with assault bodily injury.
