The officer was aware of several thefts occurring in that area over the last few weeks. Upon stopping the vehicle for an investigation, a strong odor of alcoholic beverage was present in the vehicle. A bottle of alcoholic beverage was in plain view in the back floorboard, as was a cup in the console cup holder with the same beverage in it. The driver, a 31 year old male, failed to successfully complete a field sobriety evaluation and was placed under arrest for DWI. The passenger, a 26 year old male, was arrested for Arlington warrants. Both were booked into the municipal jail.

06/26 - Burglary of a Building/Theft $20,000 to $100,000 - 800 block of Kennedale Parkway: At 1:05 p.m. an officer responded to a report of copper wiring being removed from an industrial building. 06/26 Possession of Marijuana - 1200 block of Kennedale Parkway: At 6:56 p.m. an officer was alerted by an employee of a convenience store that a possible gas theft was in progress. The officer observed the vehicle in question occupied by three males and parked at a gas pump. As the officer watched the vehicle, it pulled to the front entrance of the store and the males began acting strangely, entering, leaving, and re-entering the store. A customer approached the officer and stated that there was a disturbance inside the store over paying for gas. The officer, along with a second officer, entered the store and contacted the vehicle driver. The driver did not have money to pay for the gas but stated that his father was on they way to pay for it. A check of the driver indicated active warrants for his arrest out of Forest Hill and Fort Worth. A second occupant was located outside of the store on the back part of the property. He gave a false name to the officer but identification was located with his actual information. The second male was arrested for an active warrant out of Tarrant County. Both suspects were transported to jail for booking. The third male was released at the scene with no charges filed.

On arrival the officers observed a male stripping copper wire in the yard of a residence. This was the same residence that officers responded to the week before on a complaint of persons stripping copper wire in the yard. The male stated that he was stripping the wire for a friend who was asleep in the residence. The officers located the friend and identified him as a known Kennedale offender. One of the officers had taken a burglary report earlier in the week from a location next to the park. In that report the building owner reported that the copper wiring had been removed from the building. The building owner responded and reported that there was fresh damage and theft that had occurred since the report. The known offender was arrested for the burglary and thefts.
