[ARCHIVED] Incident Reports

08/19 - Theft $1,500 to $20,000 - 200 block of Valley Lane: At 12:13 p.m. a victim reported the theft of metal materials from his shop. The theft was witnessed by a neighboring business owner who provided the officer with a description of the suspects and the vehicle used.

08/20 - Possession of Controlled Substance, Possession of Firearm by Felon - 500 block of Dick Price Road: At 1:38 p.m. an officer stopped a vehicle for speeding. The lone occupant, a 54 year old male driver, verbally identified himself but could not produce a driver's license. The vehicle had a paper license plate showing that the vehicle was purchased the day before. Upon contacting the car lot, the officer was told the name and description of the person who purchased the vehicle. The description matched the driver but the name did not. The driver gave conflicting stories about what he was doing and was arrested for no operator license, failure to maintain financial responsibility, and failure to identify. During an inventory of the vehicle prior to impound, the officer discovered methamphetamine and a loaded .45 auto handgun. Also found in the vehicle was computer equipment and material used to forge checks. After being brought to the municipal jail for booking, a fingerprint check revealed the suspect's true name, which was different form the name he used to purchase the vehicle. It was discovered that the suspect was wanted for parole violation on a narcotics charge. He was booked in under his correct name and charges are pending.

08/22 - Theft $500 to $1,500 - 200 block of Collette Sublett Road: At 8:23 a.m. an officer received a report of the theft of a silver propane tank from a rental property. The complainant valued the tank at $500.00.

08/23 - Fraudulent Use of Identifying Information - 6900 block of Mansfield Cardinal Road: At 10:15 a.m. a victim reported to police that her Social Security number was being used by a male in another city. The male has apparently been using the number for several years but the victim was only made aware recently. The suspect has been tentatively identified.

08/23 - Driving with Invalid License - 7000 block of Kennedale Parkway: At 11:15 a.m. an officer stopped a vehicle for speeding. The driver, a 46 year old male, gave his name verbally while stating that his license was suspended. A computer check could not pull up a license on the name provided. The suspect finally gave a license number which came back with seven arrest warrants out of Arlington. It was also determined that the suspect's license is suspended for no insurance. The suspect was arrested and booked into the municipal jail.

08/23 - Emotionally Disturbed Person - 800 block of Pennsylvania Avenue: At 7:22 p.m. officers responded to a disturbance with shots fired. On arrival the officers met with a male and female who had been involved in an argument. The two had argued and the female retrieved a handgun for her protection. The male attempted to gain possession of the gun and it went off. The male pointed the weapon at his head and then threw it into her vehicle as she called police. The officers had made a call to the same residence several hours earlier in response to a family member concern that the male had posted self-threatening comments on his Facebook page. During the earlier call the officers felt that he was not a threat to himself or anyone else. Based on his pointing the weapon at himself coupled with the prior comments, the male was transported to JPS Hospital for an emergency mental detention and evaluation.

08/24 - DWI - 900 block of Little School Road: At 1:34 am. an officer observed a vehicle speeding. Upon following the vehicle to make a traffic stop the officer observed it was being operated in an erratic manner. Upon stopping the vehicle, the 22 year old driver was interviewed by the officer, who could smell an odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the vehicle. The driver was determined to be under the influence of alcohol. He was given a breath test at the Mansfield jail facility and a reading of 0.20 was obtained. He was booked into the municipal jail.

08/24 - Disorderly Conduct - 200 block of Kenney Street: At 9:08 a.m. an officer responded to a complaint of a neighbor taking unauthorized photos of children. The complaint advised the officer that a neighbor had photographed her children (ages 4 and 6) while they were outside and in the neighbor's yard. The children have figured out how to unlock the back door to go out and jump over the fence into the neighbor's yard. The neighbor was interviewed and admitted to photographing the children due to their being outside and unsupervised. It is an on-going issue and the neighbor is concerned about the safety of the children. The neighbor stated that the mother of the children came over and cursed at her. She was advised to contact police if the children got out again.

08/24 - Information Report - 1000 block of Kennedale Parkway: At 1:34 p.m. officers responded to a report of an accident with an unconscious person. On arrival the officers located an unconscious 49 year old male sitting behind the wheel of a 1998 Chevrolet pick-up. The pick-up was resting against the bumper of a 1993 Cadillac parked at a business. The officers could find nothing in the vehicle to explain the unconscious state of the male. He was treated and transported by Kennedale Fire/Rescue personnel. The vehicles had minor damage. The male's pick-up was impounded for safekeeping.
