1/18 - Application for Mental
Detention and Observation - 200 block of N. Sulphur Street: At 5:25 p.m.
officers responded to a report of a known male leaving a group home. The male,
who has been handled in the past for violent outbreaks against staff and
residents in the home, had gotten into an altercation with a staff member. The
male, who suffers from a number of mental health issues, fled to a business at
Kennedale Parkway and I-20. The male was taken into custody after stating that
he wanted to harm the staff member he had argued with. He was transported to
JPS Hospital for observation and treatment.
1/15 - Driving While
Intoxicated - 700 block of W. Kennedale Parkway: At 1:28 a.m. an officer
stopped a vehicle for erratic driving and for a traffic violation. The driver,
a female, appeared to be intoxicated, stating that she had been drinking vodka.
The female driver was unable to successfully perform a field sobriety
assessment and was arrested for DWI. She was transported to jail where she gave
a voluntary blood sample for analysis.
1/15 - Possession Control
Substance - 5600 block of E. IH 20: At 3:26 a.m. an officer observed a vehicle
stopped in the traffic lane of the service road. The officer stopped to see if
assistance was needed and noted that the vehicle was in gear and the driver had
his foot on the brake. The driver attempted to drive away as the officer
approached but pulled into a nearby parking lot. The driver, a male, appeared
intoxicated and smelled of an alcoholic beverage. The driver was unable to successfully
complete a field sobriety test due to a language barrier as he spoke mostly
Spanish. The driver was taken into custody and transported to jail where a
blood draw warrant was filed by the officer and signed by a judge. The blood
sample was obtained by jail medical staff. While being booked in, the suspect was
found to be in possession of a small bag of cocaine. He was charged with the
drug possession and DWI.
1/15 - Animal Bite - 6700
block of Oak Crest Drive W.: At 1:24 p.m. an officer responded to a dog bite
complaint. An adult male was holding on to a stray dog that had bitten two of
his juvenile family members. The officer transported the animal to the Fort
Worth Shelter for quarantine.
1/20 – Aggravated Robbery (Firearm)
- 200 block of W. Kennedale Parkway: At 10:11 p.m. officers responded to a
report of an armed robbery. Two males entered the Subway restaurant and displayed
a handgun. The males demanded the money from the register and safe and then
fled the store on foot. The robbery was captured on the video security system.
1/20 – Theft $750 to $2,500 -
1000 block of Winding Creek Drive: At 3:15 p.m. a victim reported that her
identity was stolen by unknown person(s) and was used to open several credit
accounts.
1/21 - Application for Mental
Detention and Observation - 200 block of N. Dick Price Road: At 10:41 a.m.
officers responded to a disturbance. A known male with several mental issues
stated that he was assaulted by two males. On arrival, the male was screaming
at the non-existent males he claimed had assaulted him. The male was transported
to JPS Hospital for mental evaluation and treatment.
1/21 - Animal Bite - 300
block of Spring Branch Lane: Officers responded to a report of a dog biting a
female juvenile. Two stray dogs had been in the area and bit the juvenile on
the leg. The dogs had fled the area before officers arrived.
1/17 - Death Investigation - 6700
block of Oak Crest Drive E.: At 11:45 a.m. officers responded to a death
investigation. A 72 year old female victim was found deceased by her husband.
The medical examiner’s office was contacted and released the victim to the
family’s funeral home of choice. No suspicious circumstances were observed and
the victim had been having health issues.
1/17 – Theft < $100 - 100
block of W. Kennedale Parkway: At 8:28 p.m. a male victim reported that his
wallet was stolen while he was at a local convenience store. The victim was
able to provide a suspect description and stated that wallet had cash and
credit cards in it.
1/20 - Evading Arrest or
Detention (Vehicle) - 7000 block of E. Kennedale Parkway: At 12:14 a.m. an
officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. The vehicle fled as soon as
the officer approached the driver door. The officer attempted to catch the
vehicle but was unable to do so safely and discontinued. The vehicle
information and license plate were obtained from the police unit’s in-car video
and a warrant will be issued.
1/20 - Evading Arrest or
Detention (Vehicle) - 800 block of Paula Lane: At 2:45 a.m. an officer observed
a car following a motorcycle in a residential neighborhood. The motorcycle did
not have a tail light and the officer attempted a traffic stop. After a short chase
the motorcycle stopped and the driver charged the officer’s vehicle. The
officer took the driver into custody immediately and asked why he didn’t pull
over. The driver stated that he bought the motorcycle two weeks ago and was
afraid it might be stolen due to the ignition being punched out. The motorcycle
did come back as stolen out of Fort Worth and the driver also had an arrest warrant
from Tarrant County. The motorcycle was impounded and the driver taken to jail
for booking.
1/20 - Burglary - 1200 block of
N. Little School Road: At 8:16 a.m. officers responded to a burglar alarm at a
nail salon. The owner responded shortly after and stated that all of the television
sets were taken from the business. The video security system recorded the
offense as it occurred. At 8:13 a.m. two males in a stolen black Dodge truck were
observed removing the televisions. None of the surrounding businesses were open
at the time of the burglary.
