3/5 – Unlawfully Carrying a Weapon
- 800 block of N. Dick Price Road: At 3:55 a.m. an officer stopped a vehicle
for speeding. The vehicle license plate had a warrant notification attached out
of Westworth Village for a male who was the driver of the vehicle. During the
interview, the male stated that he had a weapon in his vehicle. A .40 caliber
Glock was located in the console with multiple live and spent rounds. The driver
stated that he had fired several rounds from the weapon earlier while in
Johnson County. The male also was found to be in possession of a bag of cocaine
in his coat pocket. He was arrested for the weapon and the narcotics and
transported to jail for booking. The contraband was placed in evidence.
3/5 - Terroristic Threat - 6300
block of Treepoint Drive: AT 7:45 p.m. officers responded to a report of a
person with a gun. A female reported that her estranged husband and his new
girlfriend had illegally removed property from her apartment. When she confronted
the husband he took the property back inside. The reporting female walked over
to her husband’s vehicle to speak with the girlfriend. When she tapped on the
window the girlfriend pointed a firearm at her. The female then called police. The
suspect was later located at Walmart across the street. The suspect claimed
that the female had beaten on the window and tried to open the door. The
suspect stated that she has filed a report previously with another department
for the female threatening to kill her. The suspect stated she was in fear for
her life and displayed her weapon but didn’t point it at the victim. The
suspect is a legal LTC holder. No arrest was made on scene due to conflicting
stories. The case remains open.
3/6 - Burglary - 900 block of
Corry A. Edwards Drive: At 10:58 a.m. an officer responded to a burglary report.
A vacant home had been burglarized earlier by a male that was seen running from
the location. The suspect had attempted to remove copper pipes and wiring from
the home.
3/7 - Burglary - 200 block of
Chateau Avenue: At 8:04 a.m. officers were dispatched to a home in the 200
block of Chateau Drive for a burglary in progress. Several suspects had kicked the
front door open. Two juveniles were at home in the upstairs area when the
offense occurred. Not realizing the two juveniles were at home, the suspects
took property and left. The juveniles locked themselves in an upstairs room of
the home while the suspects were inside. Using a cell phone the juveniles
contacted 911 and police responded. The suspects were gone on the officers’
arrival.
3/7 - Assault Bodily Injury (Family
Violence) - 700 block of Woodland Court: At 4:24 p.m. officers responded to a
domestic disturbance. A male reported that he was assaulted during an argument
with his live-in girlfriend. The victim stated that the argument occurred
because he had an unknown woman’s number in his cell phone and his girlfriend
became angry. The victim did exhibit injuries consistent with his story.
3/7 - Criminal Mischief $750 to
$2,500 - 100 block of Border Lane: At 3:55 p.m. an officer responded to a criminal
mischief complaint. The reporting person stated that he arrived at a rental
property to inspect it. Several suspects ran out of the property toward the
high school. The home had several damaged light fixtures and ceiling fans.
3/7 – Vehicle Burglary - 500
block of North Road: At 3:11 p.m. a victim reported that a trailer was
burglarized on his property. The trailer lock was cut open. Tools and
motorcycle parts were taken. Suspect(s) also removed parts of several unsecured
inoperable air conditioner units.
3/7 - Application for Mental
Detention and Observation - 200 block of N. Sulphur Street: At 6:59 p.m.
officers responded to an emotionally disturbed person. A known suspect who is a
group home resident became angry at the staff for not allowing him to smoke and
play video games. The resident stated that he held a piece of broken glass to
his own neck and threatened to harm himself. The resident also told officers he
was hearing voices telling him to harm himself and others. He was transported
to JPS Hospital for emergency detention and observation.
3/8 – Theft of Materials
ALUM/BRNZ/COPPER/BRASS Under $30,000 - 500 block of North Road: At 12:45 p.m. a
victim reported that two suspects had removed parts of several other air
conditioner units. This victim also reported a similar occurrence on March 7th.
This time the offense was caught on surveillance video.
3/8 – Vehicle Burglary - 300
block of W. 5th Street: At 11:00 p.m. a victim reported that
person(s) unknown broke the driver side door window of his unlocked vehicle and
pried a stereo radio from the dash. The victim’s wallet was also taken.
3/8 - Assault Bodily Injury (Family
Violence) - 1000 block of Chandler Street: At 11:05 p.m. officers responded to
a domestic disturbance. A juvenile female was in the driveway and reported that
her parents were fighting inside the home. When officers entered the residence
an adult male was observed on top of an adult female that he was holding down.
Both stated that the other had started the argument and both had injuries
consistent with their stories. It was determined after looking at the physical
evidence that the male was the aggressor and he was arrested for family
violence.
8/11 – Delivery of a Control
Substance - 1400 block of Sonoma Drive: At 10:15 p.m. officers stopped a
vehicle for a traffic violation. Upon approaching the vehicle officers observed
it had been started using a pair of pliers. During an interview the driver
stated that the vehicle was his girlfriend’s and that the key had broken off in
the ignition. The driver had multiple warrants for his arrest and was taken
into custody. Inside the vehicle officers found a pouch containing both cocaine
and methamphetamine along with small bags used to distribute narcotics. The
driver was arrested for the narcotics and warrants, and was transported to jail
for booking.
