4/9 - Aggravated Robbery - 1100
block of W. Kennedale Parkway: At 8:57 p.m. officers responded to a report of
an armed robbery at Burger King. A male suspect entered the store and asked for
the manager. The suspect then displayed a firearm to the manager and demanded
the money. After being given the money the suspect left the store in an unknown
direction.
4/10 - Assault Bodily Injury - 900 block of Corry A. Edwards Drive: At 1:00
p.m. the junior high school resource officer was asked to assist in investigating
an assault between two males. The two males got into a fight in the restroom.
The suspect male struck the victim causing him to fall and hit his head. While
the victim was unconscious the suspect continued to hit and kick the victim.
The victim received treatment for his injuries at Cook Children’s Hospital. The
suspect will be charged with assault.
4/10 - Assault Bodily Injury - 900 block Corry A. Edwards Drive: At 2:15
p.m. the junior high school resource officer was asked to investigate a
possible assault with bodily injury. The two involved female students were in
the nurse’s office and were interviewed by the officer. After getting their stories
the officer reviewed the school’s security video and observed the suspect
female walk up behind the victim and begin to strike her repeatedly in the
head. The suspect’s parents arrived for an interview and became aggressive with
the school staff and the SRO. They were asked to leave the facility and as they
were leaving the suspect’s mother began to use obscenities in a low tone. The faculty
member asked her what she said and the mother stepped toward the staff member
and loudly stated the obscenity. The student will be charged with the assault
and the mother will be charged with disorderly conduct for using offensive
language in the presence of the students and staff.
4/10 - Driving While
Intoxicated - 100 block of W. Kennedale Parkway: At 1:31 a.m. an officer
stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. The driver, a male, had been
drinking and was unable to successfully complete a field sobriety assessment.
He was arrested for DWI and volunteered to give a blood sample. Medical staff
at the jail drew the blood sample to be entered into evidence. The suspect, who
has two prior DWI convictions, was booked in without incident.
4/10 - Application for Mental
Detention and Observation - 1000 block of Estates Drive: At 11:25 a.m. officers
responded to an emotionally disturbed male who was threatening to harm himself.
The male was located at his parents’ home and was making threats to harm
himself and others. He was transported to JPS Hospital for an emergency detention
and observation.
4/10 - Burglary - 700 block of Lake Wood Drive: At 6:37 p.m. officers responded
to a burglary. The homeowners, who had been out of town, returned to find the
front door forced open. Person(s) unknown had entered and removed a large
jewelry box with jewelry. A family member had checked the home earlier that
afternoon and it was secure.
4/14 - Application for Mental Detention and Observation - 200 block of N.
Sulphur Street: At 3:09 p.m. officers responded to a disturbance. Two residents
of a group home had gotten into a fight and had to be separated by staff. Once
they were calmed down they did not appear to be a danger to themselves or
others and officers cleared with no detention or transport.
4/15 - Driving While Intoxicated - 200 block of N. Little School Road: At
12:44 p.m. an officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. The female
driver smelled of alcoholic beverage and was unable to successfully complete a
field sobriety assessment. She was arrested for DWI and refused to give a test sample.
The female was transported to jail for booking. She has been convicted of DWI
once before.
4/15 - Public Intoxication - 1200 block of W. Kennedale Parkway: At 1:51
a.m. an officer observed a female parked at a convenience store. The female was
passed out in the front seat. Upon waking her up the officer determined that
the female was intoxicated. A family member responded to take her home and the
female was issued a citation for public intoxication.
4/15 - Driving While Intoxicated - 1200 block of W. Kennedale Parkway: At 2:39
a.m. an officer stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation. The female driver
had been drinking and was unable to successfully complete a field sobriety
assessment. She was transported to jail where she gave a voluntary blood sample
to medical staff. She was booked in without incident.
4/15 - Public Intoxication - 1200 block of W. Kennedale Parkway: At 5:30
p.m. officers responded to a theft in progress. A male had entered the QT and
removed a case of beer without paying. The suspect was located across I-20 in
Forest Hill. He was intoxicated and still had the case of beer with him. He was
arrested for public intoxication and transported to jail for booking. The QT
declined to prosecute due to getting the beer back.
