5/21 - Driving While Intoxicated - 100 block of S. Dick Price Road: AT 2:38
a.m. an officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. The driver, an adult
female, smelled of an alcoholic beverage. The driver was unable to successfully
complete a field sobriety assessment and was arrested for DWI. She refused to
voluntarily submit a blood sample so a blood draw search warrant was submitted
for magistrate approval. The driver was booked into jail without incident.
5/21 - Burglary of Vehicle - 400 block of Coker Valley Drive: At 11:06 a.m.
a victim reported that his Chevrolet truck was burglarized during the overnight
hours. An unknown person entered the vehicle and took property. The victim stated
that the vehicle was locked but no forced entry was observed. Security video
captured an image of the suspect.
5/21 - Application Mental Detention and Observation - 4300 block of Eden
Road: At 6:47 p.m. officers responded to an emotionally disturbed person. An
adult homeless female appeared to be in mental distress and had been screaming
at someone who wasn’t present at the scene. The female was transported to JPS
Hospital for an emergency mental detention and evaluation.
5/21 - Mission Person (Juvenile) - 300 block of Pennsylvania Avenue: At
9:56 p.m. officers responded to a runaway report. A parent reported that his 16
year old foster son had left home earlier and then texted that he was running
away. Officers checked a residence where the parent thought the son might be
located but he was not present. He was entered into a national database as
missing.
5/22 - Assault Bodily Injury (Family Violence) - 300 block of Spring Branch
Lane: At 1:39 a.m. an officer responded to a report of an assault. A mother reported
that her 16 year old daughter had been assaulted by the daughter’s 18 year old
boyfriend. The victim reported that the boyfriend was in the home and demanded
to see her phone. She refused and the suspect assaulted her by pinning her to
the bed and refusing to let her up. The victim eventually freed herself and
called her mother, who came home from work. The suspect left before the mother
or police arrived.
5/22 - Fail to Identify (Fugitive) - 5300 block of Mansfield Highway: At
4:40 p.m. an officer checked a license plate on a silver Dodge Ram truck. The
license plate showed warrants for two males. Upon stopping the vehicle the
female driver and male passenger verbally identified themselves. The female
showed a current and valid driver’s license. The male showed no return on the
name and birth date given. The male identified himself with a false name twice
in an attempt to conceal his identity. The officer was able to get an accurate
identity and found the male to have active warrants for his arrest. He was
arrested for the warrants and Failure to Identify (Fugitive) and was
transported to jail for booking.
5/22 - Theft $100 to $750 - 900 block of Wildcat Way: At 9:50 p.m. a victim
reported that her cell phone was stolen from her backpack earlier in the day.
The victim reported that the phone was taken after school while she was waiting
to be picked up. The phone company was able to pinpoint the phone’s location to
an address in Kennedale. A warrant will be obtained to recover the phone.
5/23 - Burglary of Vehicle - 100 block of Oak Ridge Trail: At 7:00 a.m. a victim
reported that his vehicle was burglarized overnight. The unlocked vehicle was
entered by person(s) unknown and a Glock 9mm handgun taken.
5/24 - Application Mental Detention and Observation - 6300 block of
Tealcove Drive: At 11:03 a.m. an officer responded to a burglary complaint. The
male reporting the offense was in a confused state of mind and was obviously
emotionally distressed. After determining that no offense had occurred, the officers
transported the male to JPS Hospital for an emergency mental detention and evaluation.
5/24 - Theft $100 - 100 block of Briarwood Road: At 4:33 p.m. a victim reported
that her vehicle’s gas was siphoned by unknown person(s), leaving the tank
empty. The vehicle was a 2000 Ford truck.
5/24 - Application Mental
Detention and Observation - 200 block of Pine Meadow Drive: At 5:05 p.m. officers
responded to a general investigation. An adult male had been acting erratically
and neighbors were concerned. Officers determined that the male was in emotional
distress and transported the male to JPS Hospital for an emergency mental
detention and evaluation.
5/24 - Burglary of Vehicle - 100 block of Creekside Court: At 8:19 p.m. a
victim reported that during the overnight hours unknown person(s) entered his
unlocked vehicle parked in the driveway. Property was taken from the vehicle,
which was parked in the driveway.
5/25 - Criminal Trespass - 200
block of E. Kennedale Parkway: At 3:16 p.m. an officer responded to a criminal
trespass complaint. A female with children was present on the premises but did
not purchase any items. The children were playing on the playground equipment.
The female was warned by the manager that the equipment was for paying
customers.
5/26 - Deadly Conduct/Unlawful Possession Firearm by Felon - 600 block of
N. Little School Road:
At 3:50
a.m. officers were dispatched to a call of gunshots in the area of Little
School Road and Sublett Road. On arrival in the area officers began to
investigate the call. An 18 year old male suspect was located walking a short
distance away. During a field interview the male was found to be in possession
of a 9mm handgun. A sweep of the area later revealed multiple 9mm casings in
the intersection as well as near a parked vehicle in a nearby neighborhood. The
vehicle had sustained several bullet holes fired by the suspect. One of the
rounds struck a home but did not penetrate. The suspect was arrested and
charged with Deadly Conduct as well as Felon in Possession of a Firearm due to
a previous burglary conviction. The handgun was determined to have been stolen
in a Kennedale vehicle burglary earlier this month and was entered into
evidence. He was transported to jail for booking.
5/26 - Assault Bodily Injury
- 1200 block of Kennedale Sublett Road: A school resource officer was advised
of an assault that occurred on a school bus earlier in the week. A male
juvenile was assaulted by another juvenile while both were riding the bus. The
offense was captured on the bus video.
5/26 - Unlawful Carrying a Weapon - 100 block of Peach Tree Court: At 6:39
p.m. officers responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle. The vehicle was
located and was occupied by two adult males. As the officers approached they
could smell the odor of marijuana being smoked. The occupants denied having any
marijuana. An open backpack in the vehicle was observed to contain small bags
of marijuana along with hashish oil and digital weighing scales as well as a
loaded 9mm handgun. Both occupants were arrested and transported to jail for
booking.
