8/27 - Driving While Intoxicated - 200 block of W. Kennedale Parkway: At
2:16 a.m. officers stopped a vehicle for investigation of DWI. The adult male
driver smelled of alcoholic beverage and was unable to successfully complete a
field sobriety assessment. He was arrested and transported to jail for a
voluntary blood sample and booking.

8/27 - Theft $100 to $750 - 200 block of Kenny Street: At 5:08 p.m. an
officer met with a victim who stated that his bicycle had been stolen during
the night. The victim stated that he had seen several juveniles in the street
and his yard during the overnight hours. The victim spoke to one of the
juveniles who identified to him the two juvenile suspects who committed the
theft. The victim went to the suspects’ home and recovered his bike as well as
a second stolen bike which was returned to the owner. The victim advised that
he had obtained a verbal admission of guilt from the juvenile suspects. After
the suspects’ mother returned home the officer met with them in her presence.
Both suspects admitted their guilt. A report was completed and submitted to
investigators for filing with the juvenile justice center.
8/28 – Violation of Protective
Order - 5300 block of Mansfield Highway: At 1:41 a.m. an officer stopped a
vehicle for expired registration. Upon contacting the adult male driver, the
officer observed an adult female asleep in the front seat. Upon checking the
driver for warrants, he was found to have a protective order issued for dating
violence. The order was to have no contact with the female in the vehicle. He
was arrested for violating the order and taken to jail for booking.
8/28 - Forgery - 1400 block of Peggy Lane: At 9:40 a.m. an officer received
a report of forgery. A victim reported that person(s) unknown had forged a
number of checks on the account of the victim’s mother. The victim stated that
his mother had passed away in July and that he had power of attorney for his
mother’s accounts.
8/29 - Delivery of Controlled Substance - 600 block of S. Dick Price Road:
At 12:53 a.m. an officer stopped a vehicle for erratic driving. The adult
female driver was found to have several arrest warrants out of multiple cities.
She was placed under arrest and transported to jail for booking by a second
officer. During an impoundment inventory of the vehicle, officers discovered
several small containers of heroin along with related paraphernalia for using
heroin. All items were field tested and entered into evidence. The jail was
notified of the narcotics and the charge was added to the suspect’s booking
papers.
8/29 - Possession Marijuana, Possession Drug Paraphernalia - 900 block of Wildcat
Way: At 7:45 a.m. a school resource officer passed a student in the hallway of
the high school. The student smelled of marijuana and the officer stopped him
for further investigation. The student stated that he did not have any of the
drug on him but had smoked some before school with two other students. All
students were brought into the office and one was found to be in possession of marijuana
paraphernalia. He was cited and released. A second suspect was found to be in
possession of marijuana and will be filed on through the juvenile justice
center.
8/30 - Assault by Contact - 600 block of Little School Road: At 2:40 a.m. a
female victim stated that she had been assaulted by two known suspects, a male
and female. The suspects had called the victim earlier to threaten her and
stated that they were coming to her home. The victim left the home to avoid the
suspects but was observed by them while she was walking on Little School Road.
The suspects attacked the victim, who began screaming for help. When bystanders
began to respond to the victim’s screams, the suspects fled toward a
residential area. They were not located by responding officers.
8/30 - Theft $2,500 to $30,000 - 300 block of Creekwood Court: At 7:10 a.m.
a victim reported that person(s) unknown removed the tires and wheels from his
2009 GMC Yukon. The theft occurred during the overnight hours. The items were
valued at $4,800.00.
8/30 - Incident - 400 block of Municipal Drive: On this date, the police
department received a complaint of possible threats against the Mayor of
Kennedale. The threats were posted on-line in a conversation between two known
persons. One of the two persons, who were both adult males, was contacted by
investigators and stated that the comments were never intended to be
threatening. The male stated that he had only intended to voice frustration
with the city. It was determined after the conversation that no criminal
offense had occurred at the time of the report.
8/31 - Theft $100 to $750 - 900 block of Wildcat Way: On this date a
student reported that her cell phone was stolen by a known juvenile female
suspect during a class period. The suspect took the phone home and had the
identity changed to her name. The high school resource officer was able to
contact the suspect’s mother, who stated that the phone was in her child’s
possession. The phone was returned to the rightful owner and a theft case is
being referred to the juvenile justice center.
8/31 - Alcohol Possession by Minor - 900 block of Wildcat Way: At 8:00 a.m.
the high school resource officer was contacted by a faculty member about a
student in possession of alcohol on campus. The faculty member saw a student
drinking from a non-school container in the cafeteria. The container was found
to have an alcoholic beverage in it. The student, a minor, was cited for the
possession of alcohol.
8/31 - Theft $100 to $750 - 700 block of Paula Lane: At 5:40 p.m. a victim
reported that his bicycle was stolen. The bike was left unsecured at the side
of his house.
8/31 - Application for Mental Detention and Observation - 200 block of W.
Kennedale Parkway: At 9:56 p.m. officers responded to a disturbance. An adult
male was present and appeared to be under the influence of a narcotic. The male
was rambling incoherently, presenting a danger to himself and those around him.
He was taken into detention after a brief struggle and transported to JPS
Hospital for an emergency mental detention and evaluation.
9/01 - Sexual Assault of
Child - 900 block of Sunrise Drive:
At 9:15 a.m. officers received a report from Arlington police as well as the
Department of Family Services about a possible sexual assault. A husband and
wife reported that their juvenile niece who lives in their home was possibly
sexually assaulted. The suspect was believed to be the couple’s nephew, who
also lives in the home. A forensic interview had been conducted with the victim
but the suspect had not been interviewed at the time of the report.
9/01 - Criminal Mischief Under $100 - 400 block of Municipal Drive: At
11:41 a.m. a victim reported to police that a neighbor damaged his property.
The report and offense are part of an on-going neighbor dispute.
9/02 - Missing Person (Juvenile) - 1000 block of Bell Oak Drive: At 1:45
a.m. an officer received a report of a missing juvenile female. The female
failed to return home from school and did not call to say where she was. The
missing juvenile is a foster child to the reporting person.
9/02 - Assault by Contact - 4400
block of Danny Drive: At 3:05 a.m. officers responded to a domestic disturbance.
A male victim reported that his girlfriend bit his arm when he tried to get his
property and leave. The girlfriend admitted to the assault. She was cited for
the assault and the victim left the residence.
9/02 - Theft - 900 block of N.
Little School Road: At 1:21 p.m. a female homeowner reported that her handgun
was missing from her home. She believes that the weapon was taken by a former
boyfriend who had access to the home.
