1/28 - Application for Mental Detention and Observation - 600 block of E.
Kennedale Parkway: At 2:57 a.m. officers responded to a person with a gun call.
The caller stated that a male was holding a gun to a female’s head. On arrival
a female met the officers and turned over a handgun to them. The female stated
that she was able to get the weapon away from the male while he was holding it
to his own head. The male, who is a resident at the location, was then able to
retrieve a second handgun which was taken from him by another male on scene. The
male resident was clearly agitated and had trouble processing what was going on
around him. His behavior was cooperative and then combative as his mood would
swing back and forth. The male was taken into custody and transported to JPS Hospital
for an emergency detention and evaluation. The handguns were secured in
property and evidence for safekeeping until the male could receive treatment.
1/28 - Driving While Intoxicated - 900 block of E. Kennedale Parkway: An
officer was dispatched to assist another officer on a traffic stop. A male
suspect was stopped for a traffic violation and smelled of an alcoholic
beverage. The suspect was unable to successfully complete a field sobriety
assessment. He was arrested and transported to jail for a voluntary blood draw
and booking.
1/29 - Theft $100 to $750 - 300 block of Silver Oak Trail: At 10:00 a.m. a victim
reported that person(s) unknown removed a kitchen island from a home under construction.
The island was valued at $600. It was stolen during the overnight hours.
1/31 - Criminal Mischief $750 to $2,500 - 900 block of Corry A. Edwards
Drive: At 8:09 a.m. a school resource officer received a complaint of damage to
several school buses. The damage consisted of spray paint on the exterior of
the buses. Damage was estimated at $2000.
2/1 - Possession Dangerous
Drug - 300 block of E. Kennedale Parkway: At 11:27 p.m. an officer stopped a
vehicle for a traffic violation. The female driver and male passenger were
interviewed due to a strong odor of marijuana in the vehicle. The female was determined
to be in possession of a controlled substance for which she had no prescription.
The male had an outstanding arrest warrant. The female was also in possession
of marijuana and related paraphernalia. Both subjects were arrested and
transported to jail for booking.
2/1 - Driving While
Intoxicated - 200 block of E. Kennedale Parkway: At 2:10 a.m. an officer
stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation. The male driver appeared to be
intoxicated and was unable to successfully complete a field sobriety
assessment. The driver was arrested and transported to jail for a blood draw
warrant and for booking.
2/1 - Possession Marijuana - 1200
block of Mansfield Cardinal Road: At 12:04 p.m. an officer was dispatched to a
suspicious vehicle parked in a field. The officer found the vehicle and
contacted the lone male occupant. During the investigation the male was found
to be in possession of marijuana. He was arrested and transported to jail for
booking.
2/3 - Incident - 800 block of
E. Kennedale Parkway: At 6:30 a.m. an officer was dispatched to a child walking
on Bowman Springs Road. A passing motorist reported that when they stopped to
make sure the child was alright to be out that early, the child ran away. The
child was located but ran when the officer attempted to make contact. After a
brief time the officer was able to coax the child to stop and speak with him.
The child was identified from a previous contact as an autistic child who lived
a short distance away. He was taken to his home and turned over to a guardian
who was unaware that the child had left the house. The guardian stated that she
had checked on him at 4:00 a.m. and the child was in bed asleep. The child left
the home through a window in the bedroom.
