[ARCHIVED] KPD Press Release: Suspicious Male Impersonating a Utility Worker

On Friday, March 2, at 4:45 p.m., officers responded to a report of a suspicious male in a home in the 300 block of North Road. A homeowner reported that while he and his wife were out, a suspicious male had conned his way into their home. The male was dressed in a blue shirt and a reflective vest. He reported that there was a gas leak and needed to enter the home. The homeowner’s 14-year-old granddaughter allowed him inside the home but the homeowners arrived shortly after he entered.

The suspicious male fled the residence in a white 80s model Chevrolet truck when the homeowners returned. It is unknown why the male wanted entry to the home as nothing appeared to be missing and no demands were made or weapons displayed. A witness chased the vehicle and was able to obtain a partial license plate number of CZ_ 9453. The male is described as stocky build, 5’10”, mid 30s, and possibly Hispanic.

Anyone having information on this or any similar occurrences is encouraged to contact the Kennedale Police Department. If anyone approaches your home asking to be let in to check for gas leaks, water leaks, or any other issue, do not allow them access until checking with the police department.

Dispatch can be reached by calling the non-emergency line at 817-478-5416, or by calling 9-1-1. Legitimate employees of utility companies will carry distinctive ID cards to identify themselves. This should be displayed when they approach your home.

Please help us to protect you by reporting suspicious activity.
