[ARCHIVED] KPD Press Release: Attempted Kidnapping of Kennedale ISD Student

Below is a news release from the Arlington Police Department. This offense involves one of our Kennedale I.S.D. students from Patterson Elementary School. The Kennedale Police Department is committed to working to insure that all of our students are kept safe. If you have any information regarding this offense please contact the Arlington Police Department at the numbers provided. The School Resource Officers for the Kennedale Police Department would like to remind parents that younger students are taught a curriculum in regards to stranger danger:

"Run, Yell, and Tell"

  • Run away to a safe location.
  • Yell "Stranger Danger, Help" as loud as possible, over and over.
  • Tell a trusted adult and call 911.

Parents are encouraged to regularly review this with their children in order to assist us in keeping them safe. Thank you.

NEWS RELEASE: Attempted Kidnapping of Kennedale ISD Student

 

The Arlington Police Department responded to a report of an attempted kidnapping in the 5200 block of Glen Meadow Drive on Tuesday, May 22, 2018 around 3:40 p.m. The victim, a 9-year old elementary student who attends RF Patterson Elementary School in Kennedale, had just been dropped off at a bus stop when she began to walk towards her home. She reported that a man wearing dark clothing made some comments to her and then walked up from behind and grabbed her. The child was able to break free and ran home.


The suspect is further described as a Hispanic male, approximately 30-years of age, 5’08” to 5’10” tall and weighing 160-170 pounds. The department is pursuing active leads and canvassing the neighborhood for clues. The victim will be working with a composite sketch artist this afternoon. Once a composite sketch is completed, the department will release the image on social media platforms. Anyone with information on the identity of the suspect is asked to contact Detective Grant Gildon at 817.459.5691. Tipsters can also remain anonymous by contacting Tarrant County Crime Stoppers at 817.469.TIPS.

 

The department is working with the Kennedale ISD and Kennedale Police Department in support of this investigation.
