Police Reports

1/19 — Drugs/Narcotics
800 block of W. Kennedale Parkway
At 7:03 p.m. officers responded to a vehicle accident. On arrival, a motorist reported being struck from the rear by another motorist traveling at a high rate of speed. The second vehicle had stopped and was still at the scene. Officers contacted the second driver, who they determined had been drinking an alcoholic beverage. The driver was unable to successfully complete a field sobriety assessment. He was arrested for DWI and transported to jail for booking. An inventory of the vehicle revealed that the suspect was also in possession of marijuana, for which he will be charged as well. A blood draw warrant was obtained due to his failure to provide a voluntary sample. The driver was found to have two prior convictions for DWI.

1/19 — Assault Bodily Injury (Family Violence)
100 block of Pine Meadow Trail
At 8:17 p.m. officers responded to a domestic disturbance. A female stated that she was attempting to pick up her granddaughter. The child lives at the residence with her father and his girlfriend. The grandmother stated that she had to knock on the door for several minutes before the father answered the door. She reported smelling marijuana and attempted to force the door open to get her granddaughter. The grandmother stated that she didn’t want the child, who is 5 years old, exposed to the smoking of the narcotic. When the grandmother tried to force her way into the residence, the father refused her entrance and pushed her backward several times to get her away from the door. When officers arrived, neither party reported being offended or injured in the disturbance. The father agreed to allow officers to check on the child. During the check, officers smelled the marijuana and observed indications that it was being used in the home. A report was generated to CPS. No charges were filed for the disturbance.

1/19 — Assault Family Violence (Impede Breath/Circulation)
300 block of Spring Branch Lane
At 4:09 p.m. officers responded to a domestic disturbance. A female victim reported that the suspect, her mother, had assaulted her during a verbal argument. The victim stated that she was arguing with her mother about the victim’s perception that the suspect disciplines her child more than the victim’s sister’s child. All parties live in the same residence. The victim reported that while arguing with the suspect, the suspect assaulted her by choking her, causing difficulty in breathing. Officers did not find any injuries consistent with the victim’s choking claim. The suspect stated to officers that the victim aggressively charged her during the argument and the suspect pushed the victim back away from her. The suspect’s story was supported by the victim’s sister. The suspect stated that she currently has custody of the victim’s children due to the victim previously assaulting the suspect in another city. Due to no primary aggressor being identified, officers were unable to file assault charges at the time of the report. The victim left with a friend who picked her up. CPS was also notified due to the children being present during the altercation.
