The Unified Development Code (UDC) is a comprehensive zoning ordinance that is used as the primary guide for development. The UDC incorporates procedures, standards, and regulations for zoning, land use, review, and subdivision design and development.

A PDF of the UDC is provided online for reference. However, amending ordinances may have been adopted that have not yet been incorporated into the document. All information in the PDF of the UDC should be verified with staff prior to application. Please email the permits department with any questions.

Updates to the Unified Development Code (UDC) have undergone months of public meetings and discussion with the Planning and Zoning Commission. Below is a summary of proposed updates:

  • Revised spatial requirements for residential and townhome districts
  • Revised residential lot areas to provide more consistency with existing lot widths and depths
  • Revised land use definitions
  • Expanded residential offerings in the OT Districts 
  • Allowing accessory dwelling units (ADUs) by right in most residential districts
  • Codified lighting and short-term rental requirements
  • Established Transit-Oriented District and design standards
  • Established requirements for vape, tobacco, and hookah establishments
  • Expanded mixed-use offerings in commercial districts
  • Revised commercial design standards for mixed-use development
  • Revised vehicle-barrier and guard requirements for elevated parking surfaces
  • Simplified platting and site plan approval
